Travel to Bilbao

Bilbao airport is located 9km (5.6miles) north of the city centre with buses available from the Arrivals level every 30 minutes between 06.15 and 23.15 (€1.45 per single ticket).
Taxis are also readily available at approximately €25 for a one-way journey (around 15-20 minutes) to the city centre.
Other airports serving the Basque Country include Vitoria (60km), Santander (94km from Bilbao) and San Sebastian (117km from Bilbao).
Rail and bus connections are also available from Madrid and ferry crossings are available from the United Kingdom to Bilbao and Santander, and from Cork to Santander.

What is the situation with accommodation and how is EPCR working to help fans?

The local organising committee is working with a travel agency, Azul Marino, to identify accommodation for fans attending the finals. Hotels are more accessible outside of Bilbao city centre and in towns across the Basque Country. Azul Marino can be contacted at or fans can consult accommodation listings by logging on to

San Mamés Stadium

The 53,000-capacity stadium is well served by public transport. It is located across the street from the city's Termibus regional bus station, and has a dedicated station - San Mamés (Metro Bilbao) which links the Bilbao tram, metro/underground and commuter rail networks. The major AP-8 road is also nearby. The stadium is within a reasonable walking distance from most areas of the city centre, eg. approximately 2km from Casco Viejo (the old town).
